Participation in the Lakes Region Lacrosse program has grown steadily. Last year, over 140 athletes began or continued the development of their skills, sportsmanship and knowledge of the culture and tactics of lacrosse. This included our fifth year of Girl's Lacrosse with over 65 young ladies participating on three teams!
To keep our program healthy and growing, more active participation by parents and supporters is needed! In particular, support is needed in the following areas:
Coaching: Volunteercoaches are the backbone the program and a primary limiting factor to growth. Coaches are the single largest factor in the experience athletes receive. Previous lacrosse experience is not necessary. What is necessary is for coaches to employ the philosophy of the Positive Coaching Alliance (www.positivecoach.org). Technical and program coaching support will be provided.
Fund Raising: Develop, organize and oversee fund raising activities.
Communication Committee: Develop and facilitate a press relations program with local newspapers. Summarize game results and email with a few digital photos each week’s games results (8). Develop periodic press releases to advertise club activities, such as annual registration and fund raising activities.
Logistics Committee: Field: Assist with field preparation for home games-Line field and dispense cones, set up benches and table, fill ice water bucket, dispense trash can-4 home games. Uniforms: Organize and facilitate the purchase and distribution of team uniforms-annual. Apparel: Organize and facilitate the purchase of sweatshirts, jackets, hats, etc. for athletes & supporters-annual.
Team Support: Working with coaches, organize and facilitate support for a specific team such as score keeper/timer, post game snacks, special events coordination, etc.
